The road not taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

Dear Eli,
Sorry we cannot be with you today, our thoughts and prayer are with you and the family.
We remember with fondness the debates and discussion we have had with Tom over the years. I particularly remember one many years ago about Umberto Eco's essay on "the reality of fake", the only debate I felt that I was wining as it is an emotive subject and no data or statistics can rationalise it - but then maybe Tom was just being kind to us young students.
We feel honoured to have known Tom and are saddened at his passing.

Kjære Tom- du minnes med varme hos din storfamilie i Finland. Eli, Dagny, Jon & Cecilie: vi tenker på dere. Hermanni, Hanna & Andreas / Ida, Aki, Pihla & Hilma / Kristiina & Ilona
Det var trist å høre at Tom var gått bort. Han var en viktig og kjær kollega og partner i mange år. I en periode på nær 20 år bidro han med faglig støtte og profesjonell hjelp slik at vi i ISU kunne bygge opp en omfattende tjeneste innefor organisasjonskartlegging og ananlyser. Analyseverktøyet MULVRP, som Tom utviklet, var en særlig viktig del av denne tjenesten. Det samme var hans psykometriske kunnskap og villighet til å gi råd til alle døgnes tider. Det at vi hadde Tom som en støtte, veileder og praktisk problemløser gjorde det mulig å bygge opp en konsulentpraksis som etterhvert fikk et ganske stort omfang. I tillegg til å være en faglig støttespiller, var Tom også en person med humor og integritet som vi har varme minner om.
Trist, kjære Tom, at vi ikke lengre kan se deg sitte ved stuebordet når vi ser over til dere. Så har det vært i 40 år. En siste hilsen fra oss i Søndre Steinkjellersmau 10.
